Make A Physically-Distanced Difference
1) Organize A Food Drive for DEAM
Decatur Emergency Assistance Ministries is one of our mission partners. They provide food, rent and utility assistance, and other services to people in need. Maybe you could organize a neighborhood, floor, or building food drive…or just grab a few items off their most needed list:
canned beef stew
canned pinto beans
canned kidney beans
canned mixed vegetables
canned green beans
chunky size soups (beef or chicken )
jelly (grape or strawberry)
1 lb. packages of white rice
canned evaporated milk
cookies or other dessert items
powdered laundry detergent or pods
hygiene kits (can include sample size toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, hand sanitizer, wipes, etc)
Drop off donations between 9am and noon any Wednesday and leave outside the door. Volunteers check regularly! DEAM is located on the lower level of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (515 E. Ponce de Leon Ave.) off Sycamore Place.
2) Make Sandwiches for Homeless Folks
Pastor Josh and Laura have helped pack sandwiches for this awesome group of Decatur folks who pass out lunches, water, and hygiene kits to homeless folks around Decatur. You can sign-up to help here.
2) Make Masks
We have some connections with local organizations that are in need of masks for homeless folks and foster families. If you are able to sew or produce masks, here are two templates: T-shirt masks or Sew mask.
