Big Yellow Taxi and Nurturing Our Souls

How are you doing after one week of social distancing?? Even my introverted self is starting to miss people! And I also miss my freedom! The freedom to hang out at a coffee shop or browse the bookstore. The freedom and joy of getting together with friends at a brewery, or concert, or sporting event.  The words from Big Yellow Taxi come to mind…"Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got til it's gone?" I don’t know about you but all those things I mentioned earlier I took for granted until about seven days ago! Why is it that we often don’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone? What blinds us to the gifts and goodness all around us? How can we learn to be mindful of the extravagant love of God that surrounds us always?

Here's some ideas for opening your eyes to the goodness of God all around us and nurturing your soul in the midst of these crazy times:

Breath Prayers for Anxious Times Some ideas from author Sarah Bessey to quiet and recenter ourselves in these times. Spiritual Rhythms for Quarantine These four rhythms are designed to work together to create household patterns of stability and hope in a time of distraction, upheaval, and fear. Calm App A meditation and mindfulness app to help you slow down and reflect in the midst of the chaos of life. Family Devotion Options Some resources and ideas for having some faith conversations while together at home!

Join us for worship

We are going to be talking about this very topic during our virtual worship gathering on Zoom Sunday at 10:00am. We'd love for you to join us as we open our eyes to the goodness all around us through singing and prayer and reading the scriptures and sharing Holy Communion together (bring your own bread and wine/grape juice).
