Serve a Meal at Hagar's House

Hagar’s House is an emergency shelter and assessment center for families with children experiencing homelessness. The program provides up to 90 days of shelter and services to support families as they seek to resolve their homelessness. Common Table Decatur has committed to providing the evening meal on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Learn more about what's required. To sign-up for an upcoming month, contact Harriet Barger at 770-845-4749 or email her

Organize a Food Drive for DEAM

Decatur Emergency Assistance Ministries is one of our mission partners. They provide food, rent and utility assistance, and other services to people in need. Maybe you could organize a neighborhood, floor, or building food drive…or just grab a few items off their most needed list:

  • canned beef stew

  • canned chicken

  • canned pinto beans

  • canned kidney beans

  • canned mixed vegetables

  • canned green beans

  • chunky size soups (beef or chicken )

  • jelly (grape or strawberry)

  • 1 lb. packages of white rice

  • powdered laundry detergent or pods

  • shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant

  • cloth bags

Drop off donations between 8:30am and 10:30am any Wednesday and leave outside the door. Volunteers check regularly! DEAM is located on the lower level of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (515 E. Ponce de Leon Ave.) off Sycamore Place.
